CoverTrip is run by Travel Insurance Review Inc., a Massachusetts company. This page says what we collect when you use covertrip.com and quotes.covertrip.com, what we do with it, and the ground rules for using the site. It is written in plain words on purpose. If anything is not clear, ask us.

What we collect, and why

Your email address. When you sign up for the Safe Travels newsletter, a free guide like the Trip Insurance Roadmap, or a quiz result, we store your email with our email provider, Mailchimp. We also note what you signed up for so we send you the right thing. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Your trip details. To show you prices, the comparison needs your destination, dates, ages, home state, trip cost and the date of your first payment. We send those to our partner Squaremouth to get quotes. If you save or email yourself a quote, we keep the quote and your email so we can send it and follow up with a few short emails. You can unsubscribe from those too.

Your purchase. When you click Buy Now, you finish on Squaremouth’s secure site. Squaremouth collects your payment and personal details under its own privacy policy and terms. We get a record of the sale, such as the plan, the price and which page or video sent you, so we can see what helps people. We do not receive or store your card number.

Messages you send us. If you write to us through the contact page or reply to an email, we keep the message so we can answer it.

How you use the site. Like most sites, we use Google Analytics and a Meta (Facebook) pixel to see which pages people visit and which videos and ads bring them here. We also set a small cookie of our own that remembers which page or video sent you, so we can tell what is working. This data is about pages and clicks, not about you by name.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your information, and we do not rent our email list.
• We do not share your email with insurers.
• We do not send spam. One newsletter a week, plus the emails you asked for.
• The site is not meant for children under 18.

Who we share with

Only the companies that help us run the site: Squaremouth (quotes and checkout), Mailchimp (email), Google (analytics, and the YouTube videos on our pages), Meta (ads measurement) and our web host. Each has its own privacy policy. We share only what each one needs to do its job.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser keeps. We use them to remember which page or video brought you here, to run simple tests on our own pages, and for the analytics above. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom.
• Ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Write to us and we will do it.
• If you live in California, the EU or the UK, you may have extra rights under local law. The same contact page is the place to use them.

How we get paid

CoverTrip is run by a licensed travel insurance agent. When you buy a plan through our comparison, the insurer pays us a commission. It does not change your price, and it does not decide what we recommend. Travel insurance prices are filed with state regulators, so a plan costs the same here as it does from the insurer. CoverTrip helps you compare travel insurance plans and explains how they work. The reviews, guides and videos are our honest opinions, based on reading the policies and on years of doing this. They are general information, not advice about your exact situation.

Your policy is the contract

Prices and coverage come from the insurers and can change. If anything on this site differs from your policy documents, the policy wins. Please read it, and use the free look period if it is not right.

Buying

Your purchase is with the insurer, completed through Squaremouth. Squaremouth’s terms apply to the checkout and to the Zero Complaint Guarantee that comes with every policy bought here.

The words, images and videos on this site belong to Travel Insurance Review Inc. You are welcome to share links. Please ask before copying or reposting whole pages.
