Generali vs Trawick: Which Travel Insurance Is Better?

What the plans say
Generali’s strengths are Premium’s $250,000 of medical and $1,000,000 of evacuation, 175 percent trip interruption on Premium, the highest on the comparison, a rental car damage add-on on Preferred and Premium; its weak spot is the shortest upgrade windows on the market (24 hours) and no waiver at all on Standard and Preferred. Trawick’s strengths are primary medical on every plan, Premium’s $200,000 of medical and $1,000,000 of evacuation, a 21-day window on Premium; its weak spot is Essential’s $25,000 medical limit with a $100 deductible, and no free-kids benefit. Both refund 100 percent of the insured trip cost for a listed cancellation reason, both include a 24-hour assistance line, and both are underwritten by large insurers; the difference between them is the limits and the upgrade rules above, not the paper.
Questions people also ask
Is Trawick better than Generali?
For most buyers, yes, because of timing: Trawick’s waiver and cancel for any reason can be added 14 or 21 days after the deposit, where Generali’s must be bought within 24 hours, and Trawick’s medical is primary. Generali Premium carries more medical ($250,000 against $200,000) and pays 175 percent interruption, so a buyer who buys the day they book gets more from Generali.
Which is better for a cruise, Generali or Trawick?
Generali Premium on the numbers ($250,000 of medical, $1,000,000 of evacuation), if bought within 24 hours of the final payment so the waiver applies. Otherwise Trawick Pathway Premium: $200,000 primary, $1,000,000, waiver within 21 days.
Do Generali and Trawick have cancel for any reason?
Both refund 75 percent on the top plan only. Generali’s must be bought within 24 hours of the initial deposit and is not sold to New York residents. Trawick’s is added within 21 days of the deposit and is not sold in New York either.
