I am Damian Tysdal. I have sold and explained travel insurance since 2006, and I run CoverTrip. If you are writing about travel insurance, I can give you a plain answer, a real number, or a quote you can use, usually the same day.
I answer from the policy wording and from our own sales data, not from a press release. If I do not know, I say so.
Put your outlet and your deadline in the subject line. I reply within a few hours on weekdays, and I keep an eye on it at weekends. I am in the Eastern time zone.

If a source told you something about travel insurance that sounds off, send it over. I will check it against the policy wording and tell you straight.
What I will not do
I will not give you a number I cannot back with data, and I will not guess and call it a fact. If the honest answer is “it depends”, I will tell you what it depends on.
